Looking back over my career, I think I learned more about good leadership from bad bosses than from good ones. Bad bosses taught me what not to do.

They are no different than other experiences in life. Pain grabs our attention and makes a lasting memory. We are more likely to reflect on painful experiences than pleasurable ones. We do so to avoid repeating the pain.
