LOL, yes, you are quite right. Ignore has a strongly negative meaning. I questioned whether I wanted to use it in the article. But I decided it was accurate in real life and carried enough weight to make my point.

As a manager in environments with a massive flood of information (online, print and broadcast media), I had to reject many problems, priorities and demands on my time and attention that didn’t serve the most important goals and objectives. Otherwise, I would drown in them, like I had seen others do.

Once I rejected them, I did ignore them if they came back again.
