Hi, Stephen. That’s an interesting question and rationale to support it. I’m not an economist, but I believe inflation follows the growth in the value of goods and services, which respond in part to the growth in population.
I’m probably oversimplifying this, but I suggest zero population growth leads to no growth in the need for materials, the value of goods and services, and the resulting increase in prices.
I had one other thought about your perspective. It will be very interesting to see what happens when artificial intelligence on a global scale takes over more control of our economies. Maybe then we will have the stable economic system without inflation that you describe.
