Excellent article. It makes me think of “compartmentalization” or the ability to wall off groups of thoughts from each other.

My former bosses knew they could reach me anytime, anywhere thanks to email, text messages and smartphones. So I couldn’t stop thinking about work altogether while away from it.

But I could learn to bring my full attention to my bosses for a certain amount of time outside of work when they wanted to reach me and then block them off altogether for the rest of the time.

Mindfulness and mental self discipline make the difference.
