Aging increases the risk of serious injury from weightlifting. They are the kind of injuries that stop people from weightlifting for good.
After nearly 50 years of it, I highly recommend a gradual shift toward high reps, low weight with a focus on muscle endurance rather than mass and strength. It’s also joint and lean muscle friendly.
In other words, weightlifting goals have an important age factor.
